Is it mere bias on my part, or is it rational to easily forgive Graham Greene's Catholicism, for example, but to be reluctant to forgive Campbell's fervent embrace of Dianetics? New religions have a disadvantage in that their outrageous claims are less familiar than those of old religions, but I still can't shake the conviction that there's a more profound silliness in being a Scientologist than there is in being a Jew, Christian, or Muslim.
