Oh, yeah, and we forgot to mention that Chicago will be the host of the 2012 World Science Fiction Convention (not surprising, since the bid was unopposed).

Congrats Fred, so richly deserved for all your writing, but particularly of course for the completely priceless reminiscences recorded here. Even Neil Gaiman cheered in the online textcast when you won! My blog article is updated with the news: http://mycodehere.blogspot.com/2010/07/i-voted-for-hugos.html

Congratulations! As I said before, it’s wonderful to see a fan go on to win awards as a pro, and then come back to win awards as a fan again. The connection between fan and pro in science fiction, the permeability of a line that in most cases is solid as a rock, has never been more clearly demonstrated.
Wonderful news! Here’s to many more!

I’m thinking congratulations are still in order…but a whimsical nasty thought comes to me. I looked the other nominees over in the posting at Locus’s website, and was wondering.
What’s the age spread between Mr. Pohl and the other nominees? And how long have any of them been active in fandom?

Congratulations to Fred Pohl! A lovely present from the other side of the world!
Robert Nowall wonders about the age spread…I am 51, and have been involved in fandom for 33 years.
